Why Is Ultrasound Important?

Ultrasound makes use of high-frequency sound waves that helps your physician to “see” within your body. Just by moving the sound wave generator—known as transducer—on your skin makes the sounds waves that go through the body. When these sound waves hit any tissue, fluid and bones, it bounces back to transducer. Then it converts them in images that your doctor will be able to see on the monitor.

Doctors use Emergency ultrasound as it is effective and safe technique. It doesn’t involve any X-rays and can create different kinds of images. From patient’s view point, ultrasound is totally pain-free & does not require any special preparation.

What’s an ultrasound?

Ultrasound is one kind of imaging test, which uses sound waves for creating an image called as sonogram of various organs, tissues, or other structures of your body. Ultrasounds do not use radiation. Ultrasound will show various parts of your body in motion, like heart beating and blood flowing through the blood vessels.

There’re two primary categories of the ultrasounds: diagnostic ultrasound and pregnancy ultrasound.

  • Diagnostic ultrasound can be used to view & provide detailed information about internal parts of your body. It includes heart, liver, blood vessels, kidneys, bladder, and other female reproductive organs.
  • Pregnancy ultrasound can be used for looking at your unborn baby. This test will provide detailed information about your baby’s growth, overall health and development.

There are many different names used for ultrasound like sonogram, fetal ultrasound, ultrasonography, sonography, and diagnostic medical ultrasound

Your doctor will suggest you an ultrasound that help them to evaluate:

  • Digestive system
  • Heart & blood vessels.
